Brand partnerships for Pilates and movement studios: what to look for

Choose products and relationships that make sense for the people in your space.

Begin with the people in your space.

A useful brand partnership should fit the experience you already create. Start with your members' interests, the way your classes run and the practical limits of your team. The question is simple: would this product be welcome here?

Different communities can call for different introductions. Homebody Studios offers mat and reformer Pilates. Ritual Moves includes reformer Pilates, heated mat and somatic movement in its offering. The Class brings a broader somatic workout perspective. Those differences matter when a studio considers which products feel relevant.

Write a short profile of your space before reviewing offers: your location, class formats, member interests and the kinds of products you would consider. Keep the description accurate rather than promising a particular level of reach or engagement.

Look for relevance and practical fit.

An appealing product still needs a workable plan. Think about where it will be stored, how it will be introduced and who will answer questions. An item that needs refrigeration, individual sizing or assembly asks more of your team than something ready to hand out.

For a first introduction, choose a manageable quantity and a clear distribution window. Instructors may be able to explain a product's intended use, but they should not be expected to make claims they cannot verify. Keep ingredient information, product instructions and customer support accessible through the brand.

Know whether it is a gift or a purchase.

Complimentary product opportunities and discounted purchasing are different arrangements. For gifting or sampling, confirm which products are being donated, whether shipping is included and what, if anything, the space is being asked to provide in return.

For purchasing, review the price, minimum order, delivery cost and returns terms. If products are intended for resale, ask the brand to confirm that this is permitted and agree the relevant commercial terms before ordering.

Free access to a network is separate from the cost or availability of products. Approved space access to Well Placed is free; individual product requests remain subject to availability, brand review and applicable terms. A space can choose whether to participate.

Five things to agree before saying yes.

  1. The fit: why this product is relevant to your community.
  2. The arrangement: complimentary products, purchasing or another clearly defined proposal.
  3. The logistics: quantity, delivery, storage and distribution.
  4. The expectations: any feedback, content or other deliverables, agreed explicitly.
  5. The next step: who to contact and how to continue if members are interested.

Protect the atmosphere of your space. A brand relationship should be an optional addition to the member experience, with expectations your team is comfortable delivering.

Leave room for a relationship to develop.

You do not need to commit to a large collaboration to learn whether there is a fit. A considered first introduction can give your team something concrete to assess: how easily it worked, whether members were interested and whether you would choose to continue.

Well Placed brings product discovery and opportunities to purchase into the same network, so suitable introductions can have a next step. Keep the choice with your space and the terms clear with the brand.

Premium brands. For your community.
